This introduction to programming course will use ‘Scratch’ an online program created by MIT Media Lab. With Scratch, kids can program their own interactive stories, games, and animations — and share their creations with others in the online community. This Class teaches kids to Think Creatively, Reason Systematically, Work Collaboratively and Express ideas and feelings.

In this 8 Session (8 hours) Class members will
Learn How to Use Scratch, Create Projects using Scratch

  • Learn Scratch Programming environment and types of blocks
  • Learn Sprites and Stage, and draw artistic, geometric patterns
  • Create Animations, Image effects and Play music
  • Create of Games (beginner level)
  • Learn to share their work on-line with others (Parents assistance is required)

Class activities include:

  • To experiment with new ideas
  • To take complex ideas and break them into simpler parts
  • To be persistent and to persevere in problem solving
  • To collaborate with other people on projects

About the instructor:
Mr. Nandu Vellal is a Programmer with an Engineering background and has more than 20 years of experience in the software field.
